IUB Live: Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) implemented its Autumn 2018 Semester’s Orientation program for newly admitted undergraduate students on Saturday, September at IUB’s own campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka .
Welcoming the newly enrolled students and the parents, Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB inspired the students by saying, ‘learn to enjoy in whatever you do. Do new things to make a difference and be whatever you want to become. In this constantly changing world, instead of unpredictable targets, set periodic goals in life and try to achieve them without taking much stresses’.
Prof. Milan Pagon, Pro- Vice Chancellor said, `never give-up and defeat your worries with hard work. Don’t get employed, be employable. Nothing will be able to stop no matter how uncertain the world becomes’.
Highlighting the academic rules and regulations of the University, Brig. Gen. (Retd) Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar of IUB asked the students to follow them, and assured of extending all essential cooperation to the new students and their parents.
Prof. Mohd. Aminul Karim, Dean, School of Business; Prof. Mohammed Anwer, Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science; Dr. Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management; Dr. Mahbub Alam, Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; and Prof. Rita Yusuf, Dean, School of Life Sciences also welcomed the new students and spoke in the program by highlighting the strengths, opportunities and progressive learning environments of respective Schools.
The event was conducted by Ms. Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director, Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid Office of IUB.
Later, the newly enrolled students were oriented by the Registrar, different Schools, Departments, Laboratories, Library and other Divisions of IUB. Subsequently, they visited all these Schools and Departments so as to acquiring the basic information about the university and its teaching methodologies. Apart from the students, parents, guardians, members of the faculty and management of IUB were present during the daylong orientation program.
