Nat’l Science Fest begins Friday at JU


JU Live: The two-daylong ‘3rd National Science Festival-2019′ will kick off Friday on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus here.

With the slogan, ‘Think scientifically, Expose your ability’, Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC), a science-based social organization of the university, is organizing the festival.

JUSC president Khondaker Oliullah Sa’ad disclosed the details of the event at a press conference at the office of JU Journalists’ Association Wednesday afternoon.

Eminent Computer Scientist Professor Mohammad Kaykobad of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will inaugurate the festival while JU pro-VC Amir Hussain, eminent plasma scientist professor A A Mamun of Physics department, and Professor Md Khabir Uddin of Environmental Sciences department will be present as special guests at the opening ceremony at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium at 9:30 am, he said.

Former director of National Science Museum Dr. Swapan Kumar Roy will be present as chief guest at the prize giving ceremony on the closing day, while JU Pro-VC Professor Nurul Alam will be present as special guest.

A total of 10 universities, 30 colleges, and 50 schools will take part in the festival, he added.

The two-day festival will feature inaugural session, poster presentations, a project showcasing and quiz contests for university-level students, idea contests, robotic workshops, Rubik’s cube gaming competition, Road to university and project presentations for the school and college level students.

Convener of 3rd JUSC National Science Festival-2019 Golam Rabbani, Organizing Secretary Shariful Islam Sharif, Office Secretary Tarek Aziz, and Literature Secretary Mahmudul Hafiz were present at the press conference among others.
