JU Live: A faction of pro Awami League (AL) teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) demanded the resignation of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam claiming that she took many illegal decisions that are contrary to the interest of the university.
Spokesman and General Secretary of ‘Bangabandhur Adarsha O Muktijuddher Chetonay Bishwashi Progotishil Shikkhak Shomaj’ Associate Professor Farid Ahmed made the demand of resignation of VC at a press conference held at the conference room of JU Mathematical and Physical Sciences Facult today afternoon.
‘Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam took many decisions which are not friendly for teachers, students and stakeholders of the university. This university is going to fall into a deep crisis for her autocratic approaches’, he said.
‘Different problems on the campus including session backlog in different departments, drugs, ragging, and destructions of biodiversity have deepen because of some unwise decisions of Vice Chancellor. We cannot let her to run this university in such way. So, we are demanding her resignation as early as possible’, he added.
At the conference, this teachers group denounced a total of 19 controversial deeds by JU VC including violation of university act 1973, appointment of deans and hall provosts, irregularities on senate assembly, syndicate and academic meeting, assault of teachers and following its probe body.
President of the teachers’ group Professor Ajit Kumar Majumder, former Pro VC Professor Abul Hossain, Professor Farid Ahmed, Professor Layek Sazzad Endellah, Professor Kaushik Shaha, Professor Alamgir Kabir, Associate Professor Rabiul Islam and Associate Professor Rezaul Karim Talukder were present at the press meet.
